In this inaugural installment of the Artist’s Artists series, Vermont-based artist and guest curator Pete Moran brings the acute, time-based work of filmmaker Ashish Avikunthak into contact with Tim Simonds’s intimate and careful sculpture. The light from Avikunthak’s early, ritual based films, spills off the screen into the immediate, encompassing world of Simonds’s wall-to-wall carpet punctuated with bleached vegetables and stainless steel. Here, a mystery can become its own answer, and an experience can become its own meaning.  As we see, smell, hear and feel these artworks, we are left to wonder not just how we look at art, but how different ways of looking can change how we perceive the world.
