In this two-part program, artist and scholar Sarah Stefana Smith and guest Anya Wallace, Department of Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies, Brandeis University will give a brief presentation on Smith's photo and textile-based exhibition, Willful Matters. Smith and Wallace will explore some of the critical ideas and writings that inform this work and begin a larger conversation with guest community members. These dialogues will explore the relationship between materials and matter as well as transparency and opacity in understanding Black life and identity.
