Gail Salzman: Soundings
May 24, 2013 - July 6, 2013
Known for their luminous color and layered surfaces, Gail Salzman’s abstract oil paintings have been exhibited widely across the East Coast. The title of the exhibition referenced a method of measuring depth, and brought together Salzman’s most recent body of work in a metaphorical investigation of water’s seen and unseen influence on our lives. While exploring formal elements of composition, Salzman used water to represent the fluidity of time and memory while recalling multiple levels of experience. Salzman lives and works in Vermont.
Supported in part by an Individual Artist’s Grant to Gail Salzman from the Vermont Arts Endowment Fund of the Vermont Community Foundation, Middlebury, VT. Sponsored by students and friends of Gail Salzman
