Lior Modan

Lior Modan is a Brooklyn-based artist born in Tel Aviv, Israel. Modan uses borrowed forms from everyday objects, historical references, and humor to develop projects out of careful research and investigation in tandem with experimentation in the studio with various processes and materials. Modan's group exhibitions include Traveling Museum of Love, Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art, Tel Aviv, Israel (2014); Feed Biennial, 1708 Gallery Richmond, VA (2013); and Suzanne, Artisphere, Washington, DC (2012). Modan's residencies and awards include Seven Below Arts Initiative Residency, Burlington, VT (2013); the Vermont Studio Center fellowship supported by the Joan Mitchell Foundation, Johnson, VT (2013); and the Virginia Commonwealth University, School of the Arts Research Grant, Richmond, VA (2013). Modan's publications include CURIOUS, VCUarts Publication (2012), Petach Tikva Museum Publishing House (2011), and Ha'aretz Newspaper (2009). Modan received his B.F.A. from Bezalel Academy of Arts and an M.F.A. from Virginia Commonwealth University in Sculpture and Extended Media.
