Alyse Ronayne (b. 1986 Detroit, MI) lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. Her work explores how illusion functions - in painting through depiction, and in sculpture through embodiment. Interested in the conflation of painting and sculpture, how imagery becomes form, form becomes visual composition, texture becomes image, and image becomes object. She has participated in group exhibitions in New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Baltimore, and Philadelphia. In 2015 she received her MFA from the Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts at Bard College, followed by a solo exhibition at Human-NYC and a residency at Seven Below Arts Initiative.
