Explore a new level of printmaking with master printer Sarah Amos in this two-day workshop at BCA Studios. Sarah will share her perfected collagraph on paper techniques developed through dedicated experimentation and a refined aesthetic. Students will learn the multiple plate system and its registration capabilities, as a way to achieve a rich, painterly surface with oil-based inks. Make your prints even more dynamic experimenting with color, textures, and patterns. Sarah will also share her work to illustrate techniques and give independent and class critiques. Students will create a body of work (5-10 finished prints) during this weekend workshop. Prior printmaking experience recommended. Please bring a bag lunch. All basic materials are included.
About the Artist: Dividing her time between Northern Vermont and her native Australia, Sarah Amos is among a generation of artists who have devised conceptual and formal innovations in printmaking that transcend local histories and conventions to create new meanings. Combining multiple printmaking techniques–etchings, monoprints, and collograph–with painting and stitch work; Amos upends traditional notions of printmaking in monumental scaled installations that evoke a confluence of cultures. Her large-scale prints allude to organic, scientific, and cultural ideas while exploring materiality and memory.

View her recent, large-scale collographs in Sarah Amos: Unique Multiples, June 21 – October 6, 2019, BCA Center, 135 Church Street, Burlington, Vermont.
